Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace
Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, in the evenings, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are over 6 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more. Before making a visit, please check if the FAQ has a reply to your questions.

Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the beautiful City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Bath, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love. If you are interested in learning more about Budapest baths, explore some more on Baths Budapest.

I am visiting Szechenyi baths in the upcoming January, can I ask what is the deepest part of the baths?
Dear Giorgos,
the hot thermal pools are not deep at all (1m-1.3m), they are for relaxation, and you can stand or sit on the sides.
The outdoor cold water swimming pool is 1.5m deep.
Have a nice winter holiday in Budapest!

Hi do you have shower facilities my daughter and I would like to spend the day there before going to the airport late afternoon. On Thursday 1 December?
Hello Rosemary,
Yes, you can find showers around the dressing rooms/ locker area. It is actually recommended to take a shower before leaving the baths.
We recommend entries with cabins for you.
Please see more info and a picture on:
https://szechenyibath.com/szechenyi-bath-cabin/
You can leave your luggage in the cabin provided (the cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well – if it is a regular size- along with your handbags etc.).
Have a nice time in Budapest!
