Hello,
Could you please advise how I can return tickets back?
Due to Covid-19 restrictions in Hungary we are not able to fly to Budapest and use our ticket in your SPA.
Ticket was bought online in February 2020.
Thank you in advance
Hello Adam,
Please kindly check your email confirmation and the relevant reply to email address. As there are multiple online vendors, please contact the one where your payment has been made to (assuming your confirmation includes details about T&C and refund / cancellation terms and contact).
Thank you for your kind cooperation.
Hi,
Is presenting a valid PCR test enough to enter the baths for non Hungarian visitors?
Hello Klara,
Please find our short reply and long reply too:
In short, it depends.
If you come from abroad, when you enter Hungary, just to cross the borders, you are expected to have two valid negative Covid tests min 48 hours apart to be free from a 10 day quarantine period after arrival (the first test can be taken in the source country, then min 48h later, another negative Covid test results need to be acquired in Hungary). These PCR tests are sufficient to visit Budapest, travel in Hungary, but some attractions, including the thermal baths, require a stricter Covid protection, a valid and accepted Covid Passport (as proof of a full course of vaccination with two jabs and the valid document proving it in English). Note: not all Covid passports are accepted in Hungary yet.
The Baths in Budapest (and Hungary at the borders in general) currently only accept visitors who have a Covid passport from a country which is on the list of the Hungarian governmental portal showing that Hungary has mutually agreed with them on accepting the respective immunity cards. Unfortunately, any other Covid passports are beyond the list of accepted sources at the moment. The list of countries recognised as a valid Covid passport place of issuance is continuously updated (see the List of Covid Passport countries recognised in Hungary here https://konzuliszolgalat.kormany.hu/utazas-a-vedettsegi-igazolvannyal).
In other words, when it comes to Covid passports aka immunity cards or certificate, the current information is that only guests who own a proof of Covid 19 immunity card issued by a health institute/ vaccination centre in Hungary are allowed to visit the baths (including locals and expats, but most probably excluding foreign visitors, tourists), or who come from the following countries (strictly at the time of writing) AND own a Covid 19 passport (proof of full, 2-jab vaccination): Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Bahrein, Turkey, Mongolia, Georgia. In addition, visitors who are in possession of valid PCR tests from Hungary can also visit the thermal baths. More on Covid tests in Hungary here https://www.bud.hu/en/covid_19/information_on_entering_and_leaving_hungary
At the time of writing, if you have a Covid passport from the UK, France, US, Sweden or elsewhere, it will not be accepted as it is not on the list of HU government.
Also, please kindly note that face mask is to be worn in public areas within the thermal baths (at cashiers, in changing rooms, etc.) but the mask is not required inside the pools. Before entering the baths, the temperature of guests is taken as a precaution.
We will publish more updates as soon as we can, please bear with us.
Please keep checking the potentially changing travel status of European / global countries as well as government updates in Hungary with regard to the openings of spas, gyms, and other public institutes, places of interest on the Hungarian government portal to get the most recent news. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation to stop the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.
We are looking forward to welcoming visitors in Budapest while keeping public safety a priority.
Hi, Could you give an update on COVID? Is an EU COVID PASS or equivalent acceptable?
Hello James, EU Covid passes or mobile apps are accepted as proofs.
I hope I could help.
Hi, 2 questions –
How do I book to share a cabin with my partner or would we each have to book separately?
Is there an option to book massages in advance still?
Hello Charlotte,
Unfortunately, you cannot use the same cabin at the same time as it is a one person changing cubicle, comfortable for a single user.
The standard ticket includes a locker and you can take turns using the one cabin if you purchase 1 ticket with a locker and another with a cabin. Hope it makes sense.
Massage therapy can be booked at the cashier (if any remains).
Enjoy your visit to Budapest!
Is the EU covid passports acepted? We are coming from Portugal to Budapeste
Hello / Bom Dia Larissa,
Thank you for contacting us.
Yes EU Covid passports (if they are valid and have not expired) are accepted.
Currently only visitors who have valid proof of vaccination OR immunity are allowed to enter the baths: based on your information it seems that you would both be allowed to enter as long as your documents are official and valid (official antibody tests are accepted by the baths as attestation of immunity, which is great to be complemented by the recent negative PCR test. Kindly note that a valid photo ID is also needed that matches the vaccination/ immunity data on your digital or printed documents.
Have a great January holiday in Budapest!
Hi,
Are towels and flip flops provided at the baths?
Thanks
Hello Martin,
the online ticket includes the entry but no towels or flip-flops.
Towel: Rental not available. Please bring your own towel, or you can buy a towel on the spot.
Flip flops /slippers are required to be worn in the whole area of the bath. If you do not have your own, you can buy a pair in the entrance hall shop.
Enjoy your visit to Szechenyi Baths and Pools (Széchenyi Fürdő in Hungarian). Please read our FAQ for more frequently asked questions about Szechenyi Furdo.
Hello,
I wanted to know until what time can we check in to the bath if we have bought the ticket online ? It says 6pm here but when I go to purchase the ticket it says 5pm. Could you please confirm. And until what time is it open ? 10pm or 8pm?
Hello Mariya,
the check-in is until 6 pm, however, we recommend arriving before 6 pm as in case of lateness we are not able to offer a refund or a date change.
The baths is open until 8pm.
Have a nice time in Budapest!
